I am back in Minnesota.
I left Wesleyan in a big rush yesterday morning and literally forgot to say goodbye to anyone until I was in a car riding away. Sorry.
I am moving to Chicago on Saturday. I have many things to do in the interim, one of which is hang out with everyone that I know in Minnesota. So if you're around, call me or something.

So, I guess the "having an apartment" thing no longer applies to me.

Know anyone in Chicago who's looking for a roommate?

Tue, May. 16th, 2006, 12:09 pm

As of approximately 45 minutes ago, I am done with college.

Tomorrow Katie and I are going to start a facebook group called something along the lines of "we have jobs and apartments and are done with college."

My mind is now going to check out for a while. See you guys later.

that boring and cracked-out finals week entry

Currently Sufjan Stevens and an ongoing fruit binge are getting me through finals week.
The rest of my house is basically done. They are having fun and watching project runway. This is my favorite show.
In the past 24 hours I have eaten at least 20 clementines, 4 bananas, an apple, and almost an entire canteloupe.
My next exam is in 8.5 hours. I've got about 3 more hours of work to do before then.

I'm leaving for Minnesota tomorrow afternoon. I will be back in Connecticut on Sunday evening. While in Minnesota, I will see the wedding of a boy who I grew up with, hang out with friends and family, and turn 22.

Rose - what's up with your phone? i've called you like fifty million times at least.

Dance Party Bathroom

Right now the light in my downstairs bathroom is broken so it flashes on and off like a strobe light. It's like I'm at a dance club whenever I have to pee.

another back at wes entry

We arrived at Wesleyan last night (two days before our projected arrival date). It still hasn't really sunk in that I don't have to get on my bike and ride 60 plus miles today. In fact, I don't really have anything to do today, as I still have no possessions to unpack or classes to worry about. Right now my main goal is to find a bed. I did not sleep nearly as well on my thermarest last night as I had expected, considering the fact that it has been my only bed for the past month.

Once my computer arrives (on friday along with a box of my clothes, hopefully) I plan on sitting down and writing everything that I remember from deathrace. An edited version of that may show up here.

In the meantime, I'm going to shower often and look for more clothes to borrow.

CANADA

CANADA.
Is where I am right now, updating from a library in Port Dover. It is raining a bit right now, but we've got about 50 more miles until our campsite tonight, so I expect that we'll be biking right through it soon.

We've got another couple of days here in Canada, and are planning on arriving at Niagara Falls tomorrow night.

Things of note that happened in Michigan:
Three-bike pile-up that started with Patrick's bike getting caught on a railroad track, resulting in Anna swerving and spinning out and me not swerving and running over Patrick's thigh.
A local cyclist (who patrick and aaron thought may have been God) with a bike shop in his basement only 6 blocks away appearing literally out of nowhere and offering to fix Patrick's busted bike (which he did in only a few minutes).

Canada has been really good to us, in spite of some nasty weather and strong headwinds. Canadians are amazing, and seem to be falling over each other to offer us help with directions, places to stay, food, money, and tours of their racing pigeon cages.
Aaron left us a few days ago to go back to wes for RA training, and we've been coping without him, even though we miss his neverending supply of Irish folksongs and the fact that our camp stove wasn't broken before he left (if you're reading this aaron, sorry. we're going to try to fix it.)

Wesdeathrace ljer, sorry that we haven't called you for a while. We promise to give you a full update as soon are our cellphones are out of roaming.

be back in a month.

a reminder

Hello, friends.

A while ago (like, over a year) I posted to let you all know that deathrace got a livejournal. For the past year or so we've updated like 12 times. But now that deathrace is upon us, things are heating up. We have a new, official, deathrace correspondent who we will call regularly with updates which will then be posted in our lj. So, everyone, head over to [info]wesdeathrace Right now. And then put it on your friends list. It will be worth it times a billion.

make it so

Just saw the movie Crash. It was amazing and disturbing and everything else that people have been saying about it.
But did anyone else notice/think it was funny that Marina Sirtis (aka Counselor Deanna Troi from Star Trek) played the Persian mother?

never ending story

About a mile into my bike ride this evening, I saw a couple of guys ahead of me on the trail. One of them had long dreads and looked, from behind, a lot like this guy named Alex who goes to Wesleyan with me. I biked up to pass them, looked over, and was like "holy crap, hi Alex!" because it turned out that it really was him. So we biked together for the next 4 or 5 miles, and now I have had my own running-into-a-wesleyan-person-at-home coincidence like you east coast people have like every week. Score.
